Mindful Mortality Project

Our Offerings:

  • Retreat Experiences

  • Educational Programs

  • Individual Doula Services

The Mindful Mortality Project is an invitation to turn toward one of life’s most universal experiences - death.

The intention is not to be morbid, but to promote death literacy, because we believe that acknowledging mortality does not diminish life. It deepens it.

When we learn to be present with impermanence, we often discover a fuller, more meaningful way of being alive.

Retreats

Our retreats are immersive, in-person events that take place within a supportive community environment. They are designed to help participants explore the topics of mortality, grief, loss, bereavement, and the issues surrounding end-of-life, as well as find relief, hope, and greater understanding for these challenges.

Education

We provide practical and experiential learning around the subjects of mortality, aging, caregiving, life-altering illness, and end-of-life issues that are offered through workshops, courses, and conversation circles. Contact us to speak at your organization’s next event.

Mindful Doula Services

At the heart of The Mindful Mortality Project are our end-of-life doula support services.

An end-of-life doula is a non-medical guide and companion who supports individuals and families by assisting in both the preparation for and/or the experience of a death. Much like birth doulas help families welcome a new beginning, end-of-life doulas help people navigate the sacred and complex transition of life’s final days.

While medical teams focus on clinical care, an end-of-life doula focuses on the human experience of dying by supporting the practical, emotional, spiritual, and relational needs that arise during this time.

End-of-life doula support does not replace hospice. It complements it, helping to fill in what hospice does not provide.

A Special Note for Caregivers

If you are the caregiver, who is there for you?

Caregiving for an ill or declining loved one is a complex and demanding role. It is physical, emotional, and psychological by nature and is often a 24-hour responsibility that can stretch on indefinitely. It can be isolating, overwhelming, and depleting for even the most devoted caregivers.

That is why support is not a luxury for the personal or professional caregiver; it is essential. If you are a caregiver we are here to help you be fully present and effective in caring for your loved one or client. Contact us for more information on our One-On-One Support Sessions.
